History

The Estádio Domingos Carrilho Patalino, located in Elvas in the Portalegre district, is the main sports facility in the city and the home of “O Elvas Clube Alentejano de Desportos.” Opened on January 5, 1930, with a capacity of 15,200 spectators, it serves as the primary venue for the region’s leading football club.

The centerpiece of the facility is the “Campo Patalino,” which features a high-quality synthetic pitch certified with a FIFA two-star rating. This field ensures optimal performance for matches and is designed to withstand adverse weather conditions, with approximately 10% of the stadium’s capacity covered to protect spectators from the elements.

The sports complex also includes two additional fields, the Campo Pedro Barrena and the Campo António Semedo, which are essential for the training and development of young football talents. These spaces are dedicated to nurturing emerging players and are crucial for the growth and future of the club.

Since its opening, the stadium has undergone various modernization and restoration interventions to stay up-to-date with modern standards and continue serving the community. The stadium is named after Domingos Carrilho Demétrio, known as “Patalino,” a legendary figure for the club in the 1940s. This tribute reflects Patalino’s importance in the local football history and his lasting impact on the Elvas football community.

Over the years, the Estádio Domingos Carrilho Patalino has hosted numerous matches and events featuring Elvas’s team in exciting and significant contests. The facility is not only a venue for competition but also a symbol of pride for the fans and a vital center for the city’s sports life.

Security

O Elvas SAD strongly condemns any form of violence, vandalism, and the use of pyrotechnic material inside and outside the Estádio Domingos Carrilho Patalino during football matches and other events. We actively collaborate with all relevant authorities, including law enforcement, the Portuguese Football Federation, local authorities, and fan organizations, to ensure that matches take place in a safe and welcoming environment, adhering to the highest ethical and legal standards. We would like to reiterate that the vast majority of O Elvas SAD supporters behave in an exemplary manner, contributing to a positive and sporting atmosphere in line with the values of fair play and respect.

Tickets: Please make sure you have your ticket ready at the entrance. Tickets can be purchased in advance at authorized sales points or online.
Luggage: Large luggage is not permitted. Please bring only small bags and leave larger luggage in your car or in a storage facility if available.

Departure and Security

Flow of People: After the event concludes, follow the signs to the exit to ensure an orderly departure. Please follow the instructions of the staff and be patient during the departure process.

The rebirth of Patalino

The future of Domingos Patalino Stadium will not only modernize the stadium itself but also transform the surrounding area into a vibrant urban and sports hub in Elvas. This ambitious project will enhance the city’s sports infrastructure while creating a multifunctional space to benefit both the club and the local community.

These additions complement the stadium renovations, which include:

Replacing the synthetic turf with natural grass, delivering a professional-grade playing field.
Upgrading all support facilities, such as locker rooms, a medical station, a press room, gyms, an amphitheater, a laundry area, and other workspaces.
Creating new VIP boxes and commercial spaces, including a merchandising store.
Building a residential facility for SAD athletes and a training camp, offering comprehensive support for players.
Establishing an O Elvas Football Academy, focused on developing young talent and nurturing future generations of athletes.
Two new restaurants: one offering Asian cuisine and the other specializing in traditional Alentejo dishes, providing diverse and high-quality dining options.
New training fields for the main team and youth squads, ensuring top-notch conditions for training and technical development.

This project aims to make Domingos Patalino Stadium a national benchmark for sports, providing cutting-edge conditions for teams while reaffirming O Elvas SAD’s commitment to fostering talent and supporting the local sports community.

With the addition of new dining options and training facilities, the stadium will not only serve as a sports center but also as a community hub, attracting fans and visitors to Elvas.
