This Sunday, October 22nd, O Elvas secured a thrilling victory against FC Tirsense, advancing to the fourth round of the Portuguese Cup after a 1-1 draw and a 4-2 victory on penalties. This feat is particularly significant, as it marks the return of a senior team from the Portalegre district to the fourth round of the Prova Rainha after 23 years.
The match, played under intense rain at the Domingos Patalino field, saw the blue and gold club start strong, taking the lead and maintaining superiority for much of the game. However, FC Tirsense managed to equalize towards the end, taking the decision to extra time. After 90 regulation minutes and 30 minutes of extra time, the dispute was decided on penalties. The blue and gold club showed courage and accurate aim, winning 4-2 and guaranteeing passage to the next stage.
